The NQ Water web site contains a booking facility whereby visitors can reserve camp sites and pay the appropriate fees. Osmotion created a visual booking system that allows users to interact with a map of the entire camp ground to select which site to book.
Visual Booking System
Visitors are presented with a complete map of the camping grounds. A legend across the bottom of the page explains where all the major amenities are. Available camp sites are shown, and booked camp sites are marked accordingly.
Search and find
A search box in the top right corner allows visitors to enter a date range. If a camp site is booked at any time during that period, it is marked as unavailable. A help icon, when clicked, reveals step by step instructions on how to use the interactive map.
When a user clicks an available camp site, the search box extends down to show more detail, including how much it will cost to stay for the date range entered in to the search box. A prominent "Request Permit" button takes the user to the Camp Site Booking Form. The next step is to accept the Terms and Conditions and then on to the secure payments page.
Secure payments
The total amount has already been calculated, and is sent to the Merchant Gateway web site. There, the user can safely enter their credit card details. This means that the NQ Water web site never has access to this sensitive information.
Once the transaction is complete, the Merchant Gateway returns the user to the NQ Water web site, and notifies them if their transaction was successful. If so, a Booking Receipt is displayed on page with a link to a print-friendly version. This same receipt is also sent to the user's nominated e-mail address.
Web Site Administration
NQ Water staff have access to the bookings database through the Administration Area. This is where they can print usage reports for each of the three separate camp sites. They can also accept bookings over the telephone to make group bookings, which are not possible through the public web site.
